How can homey switch so easily from (basically) the truth to the lies? How can he preach self-reliance to black youth and castigate black success stories? How can he rock those shades without everyone wanting to know what's going on with his eyes? And how can he embarrass me for praising him and downplaying the significance of Clarence Thomas?

People: see what affirmative action does? See the racial debt it saddles you with? Its not worth it. Obviously on the road to success you'll get help from friends, from family, from colleagues. But if you can't kick back and just be proud of yourself, if you can't simply toast all the friends and enemies along the way, then what good is ambition? Must all accomplishment be framed in a racial give-and-take context?

Its so painfully obvious how affirmative action creates a cloud of illegitimacy around the quota it enforces. Now we see the ridiculous racial debt it brings, too.
